Overview
The Greener Theater Project strives to raise environmental awareness by immersing the audience in a play that is green both onstage and off - that has an environmental theme and is produced using sustainable methods and matierals. We will produce a modern adaptaion of Henrik Ibsen's An Enemy of the People which will focus on a potential threat to New York City drinking water. We will educate and inspire our audiences, engage local youth as interns, and advance the larger "green" movement in the arts by providing information and setting an example for sustainable theater - all while producing a thoughtful and entertaining play with a clear artistic vision. Deliverables:10 performances with at least 450 total attendees; contemporary adaptation of An Enemy of the People script addressing local water issues; hiring a cast, design team, technical crew & environmental consultants (approx 20 people); advertising at Earth Day events across NYCgreening the theater space.
