Overview
The Webster County Cultural Diversity Team has spent dozens of hours researching and planning our ideal garden. Beyond the obvious goal of creating a space for families to grow vegetables, we envision a park-like setting where families can meet their fellow community members, interact with people from various backgrounds, save money and eat healthier, learn about sustainable gardening practices, develop pride in their community, play with children, feel safer in their neighborhood, engage in rewarding physical activity, breathe fresh air, etc. Fort Dodge is a diverse community of 25,000 that will benefit greatly from a community garden. We have a perfect tract of land available, a well-organized plan, and the support and encouragement of local citizens, organizations, schools, and businesses. Funding is needed for the physical layout, a first-year-only expense that would ensure the sustainability of our space.
