Overview
Who will it benefit? Children pre-K to high school, their families, visitors to Big Bear Valley and the San Bernardino Forest and Mountains, residents, wildlife and ecology.
What will we do?
1. Raise awareness through a media campaign and local presentations about the unique four-season environment of the Big Bear Valley, Big Bear Lake and the San Bernardino National Forest using local youth to be known as ECOBEARS.
2. Provide positive learning and community service activities for 1000 children ages 3-18 who live in/and or visit the Big Bear Valley. These projects will be selected by the youth and may include community gardens, planting seedlings of trees and native plants in recent burn areas, beach and lake clean-up days, recycling drives, working at the local Moonridge Zoo and volunteering with local National Forest and other community groups to improve the environment and the ecology of the Valley.
