Overview

Windmills in Watts

Everyday at dusk, strong winds from the Pacific Ocean blow through Watts, California. Wind is one of Southern California's most abundant yet under-utilized resources that could be harnessed to serve the energy needs of underserved communities like Watts.

The Watts House Project, an artist-driven neighborhood redevelopment, centers on art and creativity as an engine of change - economically, environmentally, and socially. Following our mission, Watts Residents will build 10 windmills for their own neighborhood to maximize wind power’s benefits. Our neighborhood faces the Watts Towers, a magnificent Los Angeles monument, so imagine in back yards small towers for wind that merges art and energy with community good. Beautiful!

This Refresh Project would bring green job training and other resources to the neighborhood and pair sculptural innovation with creative renewable solutions.

Change is possible. Help us by voting for Windmills in Watts!
